Much thanks to Food and Wine Magazine for giving us a nice mention on page 11 of their current issue. We appreciate it. You will also see us in the next editions of Farmer’s Journal, Kerryman, Kerry’s Eye and West Kerry Live. 10 days to go! #AnnascaulBeerfest
Fresh off the back of their announcement of a record deal with Sony and new single/EP release in June, Hermitage Green will be headlining Annascaul Beerfest 2015 on Saturday August 1st. To mark the announcement we want to give away 2 tickets. All you have to do is like and share this announcement and get us over 1,000 ‘fans’.
As previously mentioned, we are supporting Down Syndrome Kerry this year and proceeds from our event will be donated to charity once again.
Further details of the event will be revealed over the coming weeks as well as our glossy new poster and t-shirts which we are excited to share. One thing we are excited about this year is the expansion of Sunday in to a real family affair complete with street entertainment and food stalls. Expect the return of some familiar items but some changes also. Stay tuned!
Annascaul Beerfest is sponsored by Crean’s Fresh Irish Lager and works in conjunction with Failte Ireland.
Annascaul Beerfest, in association with Crean’s Premium Irish Lager, is proud to announce our partnership with Down Syndrome Kerry for 2015. Here is an insight to the work of the organisation;
“Down Syndrome Kerry’s goal is to help people with Down syndrome make their own futures as bright and independent as possible by providing them with education, support and friendship every step of the way.
Down Syndrome Kerry Branch is a voluntary group of over 200 members. As a charity, we provide many levels of support for our members. At the moment, Down Syndrome Kerry employ three part time Occupational Therapy Therapists, we have one full time and one part time speech therapists. We open a café every summer in Killarney national park, called Deenach Lodge, which provides invaluable work experience to our young adults and we have two literacy and Numeracy courses, called latch on, running in Tralee. DS Kerry provides two parents and toddler groups, one in Killarney and one in Listowel. The aims of the groups are to provide a secure place for parents and toddlers to meet and share experiences and ideas in an environment that is fun and informative
Down Syndrome Kerry Branch Believe in making our members as independent as possible. Being able to cook is a basic necessity and often taken for granted! Our classes teach our members the importance of nutrition, how to cook and how to buy ingredients! Our classes take place in Listowel.
We also support initiatives that raise awareness of DS and provide training and advice to professionals. We organise social and sporting events. We receive no state support and all activities and services depend on the contributions of members and the generosity of the public.”
To top a fantastic year all round we can now confirm that a grand total of €8,000 is to be donated to worthy causes in 2014. €6,000 is being donated to Kerry Cancer Support Group to aid them in running their Health Link Bus and €2,000 is to be given to Scoil Bhreac Chluain for use toward special equipment.
Breda Dyland of KCSG said ‘Can I once again on behalf of “Kerry Cancer Support Group” and the “Kerry Cork Health Link Bus” sincerely thank you all for your generosity and support. What you have done for our organisation will touch many lives and in real terms can keep the bus on the road for up to six weeks. This further broken down can equate to 432 of our users appointments covered. This is the real terms. Think of the difference you have made to the emotional well being of the users and their families giving them the piece of mind knowing that they have a safe secure and supportive way to attend their treatments in CUH. Many have said that the bus is a travelling support group and your donation will keep that group on the road for another six weeks. Well done. ‘
Well it was a record breaking weekend all round in Annascaul for the 2014 Beerfest. We had record crowds, sold out all our events, a Guinness World Record was set and we are set to donate a record amount of money. There really are too many people that have helped us achieve this all to start naming but thank you all!
Thank you also to Crean’s Lager for sponsoring us and helping us achieve our goals and thank you to local businesses and publicans for your continued support. Also a special thanks to Ger our sound guy who did an amazing job for us and look forward to having you back.
We had great performances from Amano, Sumdaze, The Marcelus Wallas &Mundy as well as a great gig from local lad Vinnie Flynn. I am sure we will see you all again in years to come. The sold out food event shone for many but feel free to give us your feedback and suggestions via Facebook, firstname.lastname@example.org or via our website.
We will provide you with plenty of our own photos tomorrow and reveal details of donations to KCSG and some local causes in coming days and weeks. There are still some t-shirts remaining so please contact us if you would like one and we will even post them to you if needed!
Plans will soon begin to make 2015 even better but for now sit back and enjoy the memories of a memorable 2014 event. Please share and like this so as many people as possible know our appreciation!
